Scribente Maternum Seattle Workshops for Writer-Moms
SESSION 1: Join Scribente Maternum, an organization creating community for moms who write, at this in-person retreat sponsored by and hosted by us at The Pioneer Collective as well as co-sponsor Hedgebrook. Start the day with the unparalleled Angela Garbes (1-2:30pm), author of Essential Labor: Mothering as Social Change, in a session entitled "The Work that Makes All Other Work Possible" that explores the history of why care work is undervalued, then challenge and expand our understanding of what ‘mothering’ and care labor is and can be (tickets start at $27).
SESSION 2: Then join Kristen Millares-Young (3-4:30pm) in her workshop, "How to Write a Family Portrait" made free thanks to support from Humanities Washington--Register for that session here. And finally, join Kristen, Angela, along with author Maggie Mertens and interdisciplinary artist, writer, and activist, Amber Flame, at a panel discussion and writer-moms social down the street at Black Bottle Gastro Tavern (5:30-7pm)--Register for this free session here.
